- The safety of our passengers and drivers is our number one priority. We are proud of our safety record and strive to maintain it every year.
- Chinook Charter has a satisfactory carrier profile with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and the Federal Motor Carrier Association. Satisfactory is the highest ranking for a carrier. Click here for the links to these agencies.
- All Chinook buses are under a stringent preventative maintenance program. We have a fulltime certified mechanic on duty Monday through Friday and on call on weekends.
- Chinook is approved to transport school district students in the State of Washington.
- All Chinook drivers are drug and alcohol tested prior to employment and in a random testing program that is coordinated through First Advantage (previously Lexis Nexis).
- Chinook is fully insured by Lancer Insurance which is the largest and most experienced provider in the nation. Each passenger is insured for $500.000.00
- Chinook drivers adhere to Federal Hours of Service regulations that include:
- Maximum 10 hours a day driving
- Maximum 15 hours a day on duty
- Minimum 8 consecutive hours off between days
- Multiple drivers are used when itineraries exceed these limits
- Each motor coach is equipped with a first aid kit, a fully charged fire extinguisher and a safety step for safe entrance and departure from the bus. Drivers wear reflective vests to maximize visibility when outside of the bus.
- Each Chinook driver has:
- Current CDL with passenger endorsement
- Driving background check
- DOT medical approval
- Previous employee performance checks
- Physical driving skills test
